Today, students received their "Dreamer's Rock" assessments - many projects were very well done. That said, some folks missed the mark in terms of theme etc. Note: A number of students expected to be able to do this work during lunch hour today. While I am always available during tutorial time, lunches are generally off-limits - I am also unwell, and headed home for the day.
Those who are going to re-submit the work have been asked to arrive at 8:30 tomorrow. They will talk through the improvements that they have made, therefore allowing me to include those improvements in learning update comments.
We talked about the Highway of Tears, and the long-standing history of MMIWG2S in Canada, in order to note this good news story about community members possibly being close to bringing home loved one's remains.
We discussed the return of the Sockeye run in the Okanagan - to Okanagan Lake - thanks to the local Indigenous Nations.
We read "The Fire" and students took notes.
