Lesson 26

 Students came in, handed in their homework (if they had it done), and read their personal novels.

We did a worksheet on commas, which will be followed by a comma quizzlet on Wednesday, next week. 

Students talked with group-mates about superstitions - what they are - why some are - and ones they have come across so far in their lives.

We then read the first two pages of "The Sea Devil," up to the bottom of page 35. Students high lighted/underlined any lines that suggested potentially dangerous, or negative things to come (foreshadowing).

NO HOMEWORK!

Lesson 25

 We finally got to relax a bit, after working so hard on paragraph writing.

Students read their personal novels for a bit - reconnected with the characters they'd been missing over the last weeks...

We did a short worksheet on apostrophes, which, as always, can be found in the file on Teams.

Students worked on vocabulary, the rest of which is homework - Just as before, on a separate sheet of paper, students are to write a definition for the words, then illustrate the meaning by using them in a sentence.

Lesson 24

Final drafts are done!

No homework for the weekend, but to relax and take it easy.

Lesson 23

Students spent today's working on their good copies The final copy will be complete by the end of Friday's block.

***IF STUDENTS BELIEVE THEY WILL REQUIRE MORE TIME THAN TWO FULL BLOCKS TO COMPLETE A GOOD COPY,  THEY MUST  COME TO TUTORIAL BEFORE THE FINAL WRITING CLASS.  After two blocks of time for the final drafts, the work will be marked as it is.

 

Lesson 22

Students worked through a peer-editing process today - most of those who were present received a full edit, along with a secondary read of their work.

Next block, students will begin their final draft - The final copy should be complete by the end of the subsequent block.

Lesson 21

 Students spent the entirety of  today's block  finishing their rough drafts.

Anyone who has not completed their rough draft is expected to attend tutorial on Thursday morning, prior to peer-edit work. 

Students who wish to work on their writing in LAC can do so, but it will be treated as a test.

PLEASE NOTE: As stated repeatedly during class time, ALL WRITING WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CLASSROOM SETTING. No extraneous materials will be used, apart from what I have now collected, and the text of the story itself.

Lesson 20

 Students marked their recent comma quiz, and spent the remainder of the block working on their drafts.

***The homework for today was to write down 2-3 points for improvement from the last assignment - if you did not do so, it should be brought in next week, and stapled to the back of your draft work.
